When the jacarandas bloom it is a sign the year is passing;
in my part of the world they herald the coming of Christmas and the end of the
year.
They blooming is often are accompanied by rain which knocks
the petals down onto the ground below; so
far this year there has not been any significant rain and there is only a sprinkling
of fallen petals on the ground below the trees.
Most of the blossom on our trees is right at the very top and quite difficult to see.
In a nearby street there is a young tree and here is a close-up view of the blossom.
