After the (foot)ball is over

After the football is over,

After the siren sounds -

After the players leaving;

After the crowds are gone.

Many a heart is aching,

If you could read them all;

All of the Crows hopes have vanished

After their fall.

And so the team that finished the competition at the top of the list found that a team which plays as a team and with inspiration and purpose, might rise up from third place, hold off all the finals contenders and take out the flag.

No consolation for the Crows and for their supporters who came across in convoys from Adelaide with high hopes of seeing their team take home the flag.

However that’s the game; only one team can take the flag; everyone else has to regroup, think over their tactics and line up again next year with hope in their hearts and a winning game plan.
