Blue Moon

A blue moon is a full moon which appears twice in one calendar month. The next blue moon is combined with a lunar eclipse; there is much excitement in astronomical circles about this forthcoming event.

Tonight’s blue moon did not appear in the night sky in my part of the world. A non-event, nothing to see here; move right along folks. I know where the moon is likely to appear most nights and at the appropriate time I went downstairs to look up and see what I could see.

Nothing.  The sky was covered with ragged cloud, obscuring the moon and those few stars which are big and bright enough to outshine the glow of city lights.

Fingers crossed there will be a clear sky at the end of the month.
